How Much does Prom Cost for Girls and Guys? (Includes Hidden Costs)

Prom can cost a lot of money. There are also lots of ways you can save money and it is important to plan everything out ahead to make sure you have the budget to cover all your expected expenses.

In this article, we will look at the cheapest to most expensive costs for both guys and girls and also provide tips as to how to save money for prom.

As far as the average cost of prom goes the most recent study we have from Visa showed:

  • Average Prom Cost (including promposal) per Teen: $919

For Girls

Unfortunately for girls, prom is often much more expensive than what it is for guys.

Cost of Dress

Dresses can vary in price from very cheap to very expensive.

Ways to save money on a prom dress:

  • Buy second hand

Prom Tickets

Depending on what school you go to and where the event is being held tickets can vary considerably in price. Generally, you either buy them as a couple, or it is half the price to buy a single ticket should you be flying solo for the night.

Some could say guys have it easy when it comes to prom night. They certainly have a lot less to consider than what the girls do. In saying that though, it almost always falls on the guy to take care of the promposal and those are becoming more and more sophisticated each year.
