You could keep it which most people do, or you could sell it for extra cash.

There are lots of reasons why you would want to sell your prom dress.

Maybe it doesn’t fit anymore.

Sometimes you may want to sell your prom dress because you already wore it once and don’t want to wear it again.

Whatever the reason, there are a few ways you can sell your prom dress – even if you have never sold anything in your life.

There are a lot of girls who would be very interested in your prom dress.

Don’t shy away from selling your old prom dress simply because you are afraid of the selling process.

Where to sell your Prom Dress

The first question you are going to try to answer when looking to sell your prom dress is, where can I sell my prom dress?

The answer is going to be different for everyone and depends on a number of factors about your dress.

For example, if your dress is an expensive brand name or couture, you may be able to sell it on eBay.

Selling on eBay is the easiest way to sell your prom dress.

All you have to do is get on eBay and put your dress up for sale.

Depending on the quality and style of the dress, you could also get up to 30-50% of the original price.

This is a good selling price as compared to other ways of selling your prom dress.

Potential buyers on eBay will sometimes only buy if the dress is a designer dress from a well-known brand.

So how do you sell your prom dress is it isn’t designer or from a well known global brand?

Ask your friends

Off brands can also sell well although you may need to get a little creative.

The easiest way to sell your old prom dress would be to find a younger girl in your area looking for a prom dress.

Ask your younger friends who will be going to prom soon. Or check with your friends, who have younger sisters, to see if the prom dress interests them.

This can be an easy way to sell. They may have already seen you in the dress. If they have, they are already half sold and all you have to do is deliver the dress.

A local buyer will also cut the cost of shipping that you would have to incur if you sold on eBay.

Sell on Craigslist

Craigslist is another easy way to sell your old prom dress for quick and easy cash.

All it takes is one little post and it is completely free.

The problem comes in meeting the buyer. Make sure that you meet your potential buyer in a public place.

For your safety it is important that your meeting place be secure and familiar to you. Read up on safety tips for Craigs list.

The area you choose should also be conducive to your transaction.

This means that you should pick a location that will allow your customer to try on the dress.

Don’t over think this. Just choose your local coffee shop with a clean bathroom for your customer to try on the dress.

Consignment stores

They may seem like the most convenient solution because they take the whole selling process from your hands but consignment stores are not always the best way to sell your prom dress.

Some of our visitors have had success with consignment stores, but make sure you check them out carefully.

Your dress may get damaged at the consignment store and end up not being sold at all.

There is also the aspect of pricing.

Consignment stores offer you a fixed price that may not actually match the value of your dress. Make sure the price offered is fair.

Preparing your dress for sale

If you want to sell your dress quickly and at a great price, you may need to do a few things to make it more attractive to the buyer.

You may need to clean the dress or if you are selling online, you will need good photos of the dress.

It is however important that all the things you do to ensure your dress will attract the right buyer, are affordable.

You don’t want to spend too much on cleaning the dress. You want to make a profit.
